Dr. Volker Bernhardt “Dr.Golf” (www.drgolf.info) the well known golf professional, has travelled the world many times over. This time he will play and travel for UNICEF, to help the not so privileged children around the world. In 150 countries UNICEF is helping children and the challenge for “Dr.Golf” is to visit most of these countries and play with amateurs in the best golf clubs or resorts of each country. 70% of the proceeds will go to UNICEF, 30% as expenses of “Dr.Golf “ and team.

The Fortunate will help the Unfortunate

In each of the most golf clubs & resorts we will identify three wealthy players who are willing to help these unlucky children who do not have parents of their own or need urgent help because of accidents, war or other catastrophes.

“Dr.Golf will play against three selected amateurs of the golf club or resort. Each amateur will play an individual game against “Dr.Golf”. The amateurs will bid and the amateurs with the three highest bids will play. Should the amateur win against “Dr.Golf” the game was for free, in case of losing the game the whole amount will be for the Dr.Golf Challenge Fund.

Helping and educating is the life of Dr. Volker Bernhardt

Dr. Volker Bernhardt is a fully qualified sports teacher who got his diploma at the famous “Deutsche Sporthochschule in Cologne”. His teaching skills took him to the German School of Johannesburg in South Africa where he taught sports as the head of the Sports Department.

His real passion however is teaching golf and playing. “Dr.Golf” is a golf professional for over 30 years who has travelled the world many times over and spent nine years in South Africa. He played the Sunshine Professional Tour, became the head instructor to educate the South African Golf Pros and also went to help the black golf pros in their townships to uplift their status in the PGA during apartheid.

As an ambassador for Gary Player (http://www.garyplayer.com/), Dr. Volker Bernhardt has developed the golf legend’s learning programmes for the Gary Player Golf Academies. Via the implementation of the academies Volker spent three years in Asia and opened Gary Player golf training schools in Singapore (Jurong C.C.), Thailand (Blue Canyon G.R.), China (Sand River G.C.), Hong Kong (Jockey Club Kau Sai Chau). Afterwards he went back to Europe to continue the good work.

100 Countries on 5 Continents to visit

Considering that UNICEF is operating in 150 counties the golf charity journey aims to visit most of these countries obviously limited to only those with golf resorts. The journey will take more or less three years. All proceeds achieved for UNICEF will be given to the organisation within the country.

Best Golf Clubs & Resorts support Children

The target is to play three Charity games at the three best Golf Clubs or Resorts of each of the 100 countries. As an average two games need to be played per week. The directors of the golf clubs or resorts will help to organize the game and they will also take care of the travelling team.

Media will cover the Journey and the Events

The journey will be covered by Angelika Eisinger as media expert, journalist, camera woman and PR (public relations):

• A book will summarize the journey

Donations

During the broadcasting of each series of the Dr.Golf Challenge around the world for UNICEF special features of the UNICEF in the relevant countries could show the poverty and the need for help.

Telephone and info on bank accounts for UNICEF will be shown during each series.

Financial Implications

Each amateur needs to pay a minimum of US$ 1000 to qualify for the Charity game. Three amateurs play per game and therefore a minimum of US $ 3000 per game is anticipated. Considering 300 games times US$ 3000 = US$ 900.000 Seventy percent of this amount US$ 630.000 will go to UNICEF and the other incomes will be used as expenses for the promotion, organisation and the Charity Travel Team (Dr. Volker Bernhardt & Angelika Eisinger).

Further donations expected during the broadcast of the series will go direct to UNICEF.

We want to do the “Dr.Golf Challenge” in conjunction with a well established Children support organisation because all our efforts are mainly for the suffering Children around the world.

How does the Golf Resort need to support the Children Charity?

• To select three players who would like to play in the “Dr.Golf Challenge”

(if more than three players like to play the management will organize a second day with a maximum of 3 players or select the amateurs who would like to donate the highest amount of money so “Dr.Golf” would stay an extra day).

• To accommodate Dr. Volker Bernhardt (“Dr.Golf”) & Angelika Eisinger including food and beverage for three nights and one meal for the three participating amateurs.

• To give courtesy for Dr. Volker Bernhardt playing on the course with a buggy (one practice round and one tournament round).

• To provide practice balls for “Dr.Golf” and the teaching session of the three participating amateurs.

• Free usage of gym or fitness facilities for Volker Bernhardt and Angelika Eisinger.

• Invitation of the direct involved people for lunch and dinner on the charity day.

Selection of the amateurs to play in the “Dr.Golf Challenge” (for the Manager)

• Contact the relevant people per phone or per e-mail or even during a personal approach who would pay US$ 1000 or a sponsor who would pay US$ 3000 for such a special day.

• Ideally senior men or women should be chosen who like to take part in this very friendly “Dr.Golf Challenge” and who would still like to get some very valid tips to improve their game from “Dr.Golf” during the afternoon coaching session.

• Ask one person of the club who owes a company. This person might want to invite two friends for this very special day as an incentive treat.

• Please send or display the advert for the “Dr.Golf Challenge” in an appropriate manner.

The playing format for the “Dr.Golf Challenge”

• Dr.Golf will play with each amateur a match play (3/4 of the official handicap will be given)

• Dr.Golf with the age of 56 will play off a Handicap 0

• Dr.Golf and the male amateurs will play off the same tee and the female amateurs will play off the official ladies tee.

• The minimum amount to participate in the “Dr.Golf Challenge” needs to be US$ 1000. Should more than three players wish to play, the three with the highest money bid can play. (Please understand the main objective for the game is to collect as much money as possible for the Charity fund).

• Should the amateur win the game than no money needs to be paid by the winner, however if the amateur still wants to donate the full amount he/she is mostly welcomed. Should the amateur lose the game the agreed amount will be donated to the “Dr.Golf Charity Fund”

• Should the weather not permit play on the scheduled day the game will be played if any possible on the following day.

What do the amateur golfer get playing for the Children Charity?

• First of all a good feeling for doing something good for other people.

• A great game in the morning against “Dr.Golf”.

• A teaching session in the afternoon with “Dr.Golf” who is one of the best teachers in the world.
